First Rule

First Rule

Rule: Eliminate your self-serving nature from all Reality Observations

Explanation: This is a very difficult rule to follow because the self-serving nature is the enemy within.  It will be who we believe we are when we express it.  There are ways to minimize its expression though.
  1. Focus on a purpose outside of your self but one of which you are a part.  Example: You are on a ship with several others, and the ship is leaking from damages created by the storm around it.  Everyone is focused on and working to keep the ship afloat utilizing their individual abilities.  Keeping the ship afloat is the common purpose of all on the ship.
  2. View Reality intellectually without attaching feeling to your observations of Reality.  The self-serving nature is only present through our feeling nature.  Support the interpretations of your Reality observations with absolute facts that you have experienced without feeling.  Experienced facts can be used to intellectually predict likely possibilities in the past or future, though.  Remember that predictions offer the self-serving nature an opportunity to reappear.
  3. There is a difference between self-awareness and self-serving.  Self-awareness is always in the present.  Self-serving is focused more on controlling future outcomes for your individual satisfaction based on past experiences.  Past experiences are viewed as to how they affected you relative to how you wanted the outcome to be.
Summary:  Live in the present while intellectually observing the status of a high purpose outside yourself of which you are a part.  Use and improve your abilities to contribute to that higher purpose in all ways you can perceive.
